About Us

000.jpg

Chabad has been active in Prague since 1975 with emissaries from London and New York visiting on a regular basis, bringing support and encouragement to the Jewish community then behind the iron curtain.

In 1996 Rabbi Manis Barash and family moved to Prague, to head the Chabad activities in the Czech Republic. In 1998 the beautiful Chabad Center in the heart of the Jewish quarter was opened, providing all Jews with an address for all things Jewish.

In September 2008, at the onset of the 400th year anniversary since the passing of the great Maharal of Prague, Chabad opened The Maharal Institute, with a full time Yeshiva program dedicated to the study of the teachings of the Maharal and the other great Prague Rabbis, as well as hosting many lectures and classes for both men and women.

Chabad Lubavitch of Prague's overall aim is to promote and enhance Jewish awareness for all Jews, regardless of their affiliation or level of observance.
